The Sharp R-820JS 0.9-Cubic Foot Grill 2 Convection Microwave is the perfect choice for people who are looking to replace their old microwave. Sharp has always been known for high quality products and this microwave certainly lives up to the name Sharp has already made for themselves. However, as an added bonus this microwave can be used to replace two of your kitchen appliances, which in turn gives you more room in the kitchen.

One of the biggest reasons that I decided to purchase this microwave over all of the other choices out there is because it replaced my old microwave and my old convectional oven. Being able to get rid of two appliances was nice because this microwave does take up a bit more counter room than other microwaves. One thing that I did have to get used to was the metal plate located inside the microwave, since I was always taught to never put metal inside a microwave I had a hard time at first using it to cook with. Now that I am used to the metal plate I simply love this microwave because everything I cook or warm up inside of it comes out perfectly.

Pros:

Grilling Capabilities – Sure, I love using my BBQ to grill my food, but sometimes using my BBQ is more trouble than it is worth, such as when I am cooking a quick meal for just one person or when it is snowing outside. The Sharp R-820JS is the perfect choice because of its grilling capability and even better is how tender and juicy the food turns out. The 1500-watt grills are considered double grills because they put out heat over and under the food allowing it to cook perfectly.

Browning and Crisping Abilities – One of the hardest things that I ever faced when cooking inside a microwave was that the food turned out limp and boring, but with this 900-watt convection microwave you can easily brown and crisp the food to your personal taste. The crisping feature is perfect for using after I have grilled my food because it gives the meat the perfect finishing touch.

7 Automatic Settings – Like many other microwaves this one comes with automatic settings, which makes using the settings simple, all people have to do is push a few buttons and you are done. However, this one comes with some automatic settings that users would be hard pressed to find on other microwaves. For example, AutoGrill and AutoRaost are two of the seven settings, but the microwave also comes with AutoDefrost and Reheat.

11 Power Levels – One of my favorite things about this microwave is the number of power levels it comes with because it allows me to adjust the power settings for each dish so that they come out perfect every time. Even better is the temperature settings that can be adjusted from 100 to 450 degrees, which can be adjusted by 25 degrees F from 275 to 450 degrees.

Cons:

Cannot be placed above range – My old microwave used to hang above my range, but upon reading the manual of this microwave, I discovered that it couldn’t be placed above any kind of heat source, so placing it in the same location, as my old one was impossible. However, this wasn’t too big of a problem because I was able to get rid of my convectional oven so I simply placed the microwave where that used to be.

The Sharp R-820JS comes with a two line digital display that is easy to read, and the display offers users some cooking tips. I love how the microwave tells me when to turn the meat over when I am defrosting the meat. The interior light is also a nice feature because it allows me to see everything that I need to see when cleaning out this easy to clean microwave.
